Warranty Policy

Effective Date: 1 October 2026

At Aussie Container, we aim to supply shipping containers that are suitable for their stated condition and intended use. This Warranty Policy explains how warranty coverage operates for eligible products and how customers can make a warranty-related claim.

Because containers may be new, used, modified or supplied for different purposes, warranty coverage can vary depending on the individual product and the terms provided at the time of purchase.

1. Warranty Coverage

Where a container is sold with a specific warranty, the applicable warranty period and coverage will be stated in the relevant quotation, product description, invoice or order documentation.

Warranty coverage may differ depending on:

  • Container type;
  • New or used condition;
  • Product specifications;
  • Age and condition;
  • Modifications;
  • Intended use;
  • Individual order terms.

If no specific commercial warranty is stated, customers should not assume that a particular warranty period applies.

2. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Consumer guarantees may apply to eligible purchases depending on the circumstances.

These rights are separate from any additional commercial warranty that Aussie Container may provide.

3. New Containers

New containers may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty or an Aussie Container warranty where expressly stated.

Coverage may relate to specified manufacturing defects or other issues covered by the applicable warranty terms.

Normal characteristics of a shipping container, including minor variations in appearance, may not constitute a warranty defect.

4. Used Containers

Used shipping containers have previously been exposed to transportation, weather and general use.

Depending on their condition, used containers may have:

  • Scratches;
  • Dents;
  • Paint wear;
  • Surface corrosion;
  • Previous repairs;
  • Cosmetic imperfections;
  • General signs of use.

These characteristics may be expected for a used container and do not automatically constitute a warranty defect.

The applicable product description and agreed condition should be considered when assessing a warranty claim.

5. What May Be Covered

Subject to the specific warranty applicable to the product, coverage may include certain defects that:

  • Were present at the time of supply;
  • Are covered by the stated warranty;
  • Result from a manufacturing or qualifying product defect;
  • Occur within the applicable warranty period.

The precise coverage will depend on the warranty terms provided for the particular container.

6. What Is Generally Not Covered

Unless otherwise agreed or required by law, warranty coverage may not apply to problems caused by:

  • Normal wear and tear;
  • Cosmetic deterioration;
  • Customer misuse;
  • Neglect;
  • Accidental damage;
  • Improper handling;
  • Unauthorised modifications;
  • Structural alterations;
  • Incorrect installation;
  • Improper positioning;
  • Exposure to unsuitable environmental conditions;
  • Failure to maintain the container appropriately.

This does not affect any mandatory rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Container Modifications

Modifications carried out after purchase may affect warranty coverage.

Examples include:

  • Cutting openings into the container;
  • Installing doors or windows;
  • Welding;
  • Electrical modifications;
  • Plumbing;
  • Structural alterations;
  • Internal fit-outs;
  • Roof modifications;
  • Other significant alterations.

Customers should contact Aussie Container before carrying out significant modifications if they are concerned about warranty implications.

8. Maintenance

Customers are responsible for appropriately maintaining their container after delivery.

Depending on the container and intended use, reasonable maintenance may include:

  • Keeping the container reasonably clean;
  • Checking doors and locking mechanisms;
  • Monitoring for corrosion;
  • Maintaining drainage around the container;
  • Addressing damage promptly;
  • Avoiding inappropriate loads or uses.

Failure to reasonably maintain a container may affect warranty coverage where the issue results from that failure.

9. Warranty Period

Where a specific warranty period applies, the warranty period will be stated in the relevant product documentation or order agreement.

The warranty period generally begins from the date of supply or delivery, unless otherwise stated in writing.

Customers should retain their:

  • Invoice;
  • Order confirmation;
  • Warranty documentation;
  • Delivery records.

These may be required when submitting a claim.

10. How to Make a Warranty Claim

To submit a warranty claim, contact Aussie Container as soon as reasonably possible after discovering the issue.

Please provide:

  • Customer name;
  • Order or invoice number;
  • Container details;
  • Date of purchase or delivery;
  • Description of the issue;
  • Photographs or videos of the problem;
  • Any other information reasonably requested.

Providing clear photographs can help us assess the issue more efficiently.

11. Warranty Assessment

Once a warranty claim is received, Aussie Container may assess:

  • The reported problem;
  • Container condition;
  • Purchase information;
  • Warranty terms;
  • Product history;
  • Photographs or videos;
  • Whether the issue falls within the applicable warranty.

We may request additional information or arrange an inspection where reasonably necessary.

12. Warranty Remedies

Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, the appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the issue and applicable law.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Repair;
  • Replacement of an affected component;
  • Replacement of the container;
  • Other appropriate corrective action;
  • Refund where required or agreed.

The remedy available will depend on the applicable warranty terms and Australian Consumer Law.

13. Warranty and Delivery Damage

Damage that occurs during delivery should be reported to Aussie Container as soon as possible.

Customers should photograph the container and the affected area when the issue is discovered.

Delivery-related damage may be assessed separately from a manufacturing or product warranty claim.

14. Transfer of Warranty

A warranty may not automatically transfer to another owner if a container is resold or transferred.

Where a customer intends to transfer ownership of a container that is still within a warranty period, they should contact Aussie Container to determine whether the applicable warranty is transferable.

15. Third-Party Products and Components

Some containers may include components supplied or manufactured by third parties.

Where applicable, certain components may be subject to the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.

Aussie Container may assist customers in dealing with the relevant supplier where appropriate.

16. Inspection Before Claim Resolution

Aussie Container may require the container to be inspected before determining the appropriate warranty remedy.

Customers should not:

  • Remove major components;
  • Carry out structural repairs;
  • Modify the affected area;
  • Dispose of damaged components;

before contacting us, unless immediate action is reasonably necessary for safety.

17. Costs Associated With Warranty Claims

Where a warranty claim is accepted, applicable warranty-related costs will be handled according to the relevant warranty terms and applicable law.

Costs associated with issues that are outside warranty coverage may be the customer’s responsibility.

Customers will be informed where additional costs may apply before work is undertaken, where reasonably possible.

18. Exclusions Do Not Override Consumer Rights

Any exclusions or limitations contained in this policy apply only to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy removes or limits consumer guarantees or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

19. Warranty Documentation

Where a product has a specific warranty, customers should refer to the documentation supplied with their order.

The following may contain warranty information:

  • Product listing;
  • Quotation;
  • Invoice;
  • Order confirmation;
  • Warranty certificate;
  • Written agreement.

If there is a difference between general information on this page and specific written warranty terms supplied for a product, the specific warranty documentation should be reviewed.

20. Policy Updates

Aussie Container may update this Warranty Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our products, warranty arrangements, business practices or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on this page.
