Effective Date: 1 October 2026
At Aussie Container, we aim to provide customers with quality shipping containers and clear purchasing information. This Returns & Refunds Policy explains the circumstances in which returns, cancellations and refunds may be available.
Because shipping containers are large, heavy products that often involve transport and site-specific delivery arrangements, returns can be subject to specific conditions.
1. General Returns Policy
Customers should inspect their container and, where reasonably possible, report any concerns as soon as possible after delivery.
A return is not automatically available simply because a customer changes their mind after an order has been confirmed, particularly where:
- The container has already been delivered;
- Delivery or freight has already been arranged;
- The container has been modified or customised;
- The container has been altered after delivery;
- The container was specifically sourced or prepared for the customer.
Any applicable rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected by this policy.
2. Before Placing an Order
Customers are encouraged to confirm that the selected container is suitable for their intended use before completing their purchase.
This includes checking:
- Container size;
- Container type;
- Condition;
- Door configuration;
- Available space at the delivery site;
- Site access;
- Delivery requirements;
- Intended use.
Our team can assist customers in selecting a suitable container before an order is confirmed.
3. Order Cancellations
Cancellation requests should be submitted as soon as possible.
A cancellation may be subject to the stage of the order and whether costs have already been incurred.
For example, costs may have already been incurred for:
- Container preparation;
- Transport;
- Freight;
- Delivery scheduling;
- Modifications;
- Special sourcing;
- Administration or third-party services.
Where an order can no longer be cancelled without costs being incurred, applicable charges may be deducted from any approved refund where permitted by law and the agreed order terms.
4. Change-of-Mind Returns
Due to the size, weight and transportation requirements associated with shipping containers, change-of-mind returns are not automatically accepted.
If you wish to return a container because it is no longer required, please contact Aussie Container before arranging transportation.
Any approved change-of-mind return may be subject to:
- Return transportation costs;
- Delivery costs already incurred;
- Inspection;
- Condition requirements;
- Other reasonable costs disclosed or agreed as applicable.
5. Damaged Containers
If a container arrives with damage that was not disclosed or reasonably expected based on its agreed condition, please contact Aussie Container as soon as possible.
Where possible, customers should:
- Photograph the container and the relevant damage.
- Photograph the delivery condition.
- Record the date of delivery.
- Contact Aussie Container with the order details.
- Avoid carrying out repairs before discussing the issue with us.
We may request photographs, videos or other information to assess the issue.
6. Incorrect or Non-Conforming Products
If the container supplied is materially different from the container ordered or does not comply with the agreed specifications, please contact us promptly.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, an appropriate resolution may include:
- Repair;
- Replacement;
- Rectification;
- Return;
- Refund;
- Another appropriate remedy.
The available remedy will depend on the circumstances and applicable Australian Consumer Law requirements.
7. Used Containers
Used shipping containers are previously used products and may show signs of normal wear and use.
Depending on the container’s condition, this may include:
- Surface marks;
- Scratches;
- Dents;
- Paint wear;
- Minor corrosion;
- Previous repair marks;
- General cosmetic imperfections.
These characteristics do not necessarily constitute a defect.
Where a container is advertised or sold in a particular condition, customers should consider the stated condition and description when assessing whether a return or refund is appropriate.
8. Modified or Customised Containers
Containers that have been modified or customised at a customer’s request may have different return conditions.
Examples include containers modified with:
- Doors;
- Windows;
- Electrical installations;
- Shelving;
- Internal fit-outs;
- Painting;
- Ventilation;
- Other customer-specific modifications.
Customised or modified products may not be eligible for change-of-mind returns where work has already commenced or the product has been specifically prepared for the customer.
This does not limit any rights that cannot legally be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Delivery and Access Issues
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and notifying Aussie Container of known site-access limitations.
A failed delivery caused by circumstances such as:
- Insufficient access;
- Incorrect address;
- Unsafe site conditions;
- Restricted access;
- Unavailable recipient;
- Unprepared delivery location;
may result in additional delivery or transport costs where applicable.
Customers should ensure the delivery site is suitable before the container is dispatched.
10. Refund Eligibility
Where a refund is approved, the amount will depend on the circumstances of the transaction.
A refund may be reduced by applicable costs that have already been incurred, where legally permitted and where those costs were disclosed or agreed.
Potential costs may include:
- Delivery charges;
- Return freight;
- Transport costs;
- Special handling;
- Customisation or modification costs;
- Other agreed third-party charges.
We will communicate applicable deductions before processing an approved refund where reasonably possible.
11. Refund Processing
Approved refunds will generally be returned using the original payment method where practical.
The time required for the refund to appear in your account may depend on:
- The payment method;
- Your bank;
- Payment provider processing times;
- Transaction verification requirements.
Aussie Container cannot control processing times imposed by external financial institutions.
12. Deposits
Where a customer has paid a deposit, the treatment of that deposit will depend on the agreed order terms and circumstances of cancellation or return.
Deposits may be applied toward:
- The container purchase price;
- Delivery;
- Preparation;
- Customisation;
- Other agreed services.
Where an order is cancelled, any refund of the deposit will be assessed in accordance with the agreed terms and applicable law.
13. How to Request a Return or Refund
To request a return or refund, contact Aussie Container and provide:
- Full name;
- Order or invoice number;
- Container details;
- Date of purchase;
- Delivery date, if applicable;
- Reason for the request;
- Photographs or supporting evidence where relevant.

14. Inspection of Returned Containers
Where a return is approved, Aussie Container may arrange or require an inspection of the container.
The container may need to be assessed for:
- Condition;
- Damage;
- Alterations;
- Modifications;
- Missing components;
- Usage after delivery.
A refund or other remedy may be determined after the relevant inspection where appropriate.
15. Refunds Required Under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this Returns & Refunds Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that customers have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
Where Australian Consumer Law provides a consumer guarantee or remedy that applies to a transaction, those rights will continue to apply.
16. Third-Party Costs
Where an order involves external transport providers, freight companies, payment providers or other third parties, certain costs may already have been incurred by the time a cancellation or return request is received.
Where legally permitted, customers may be responsible for applicable costs that have been incurred in connection with their order.
17. Policy Updates
Aussie Container may update this Returns & Refunds Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our products, services, business practices or applicable legal requirements.
The latest version will be published on this page.
